PACIFIC AUSTRALIA LABOUR MOBILITY Scheme
The Pacific Labour Scheme allows people from Pacific Island countries to work in low and semi-skilled jobs in rural and regional Australia for up to 4 years.
Jobs Australia Enterprises Ltd (JAE) have been assisting people in the New England and North West for over 31 years. This includes over 2000 people per year seeking employment and over 2300 Pacific Islanders in seasonal work.
Through this work, JAE recognised there are times in Gunnedah where women have relied on the good nature of accommodation businesses to take in victims of domestic violence and that this has often been very short term and due to the lack of a suitable alternative, these victims have found themselves back in the violent environment from which they escaped.
Since its establishment on October 1st, 2018, the Sapphire Academy of Sport (SAS) has been a beacon of hope and empowerment for disadvantaged individuals, job seekers and those looking to better themselves in Inverell and its surrounding communities. Founded on the principle of breaking down barriers – both mental and physical – SAS offers a unique approach to self-improvement through boxing and martial arts fitness, as well as horticulture and carpentry projects.
FlatTrack enables young people who have lost their way to reconnect with education and training, become work ready and secure meaningful employment. Most importantly, we get young people ‘over their mountains and back on the flat track’ by developing strong, happy and healthy foundations that result in positive life pathways and full participation in their communities.
The Jobs Australia Enterprises Ltd (JAE) Learner Driver Mentor Program (LDMP) aims to help eligible and disadvantaged Learner Drivers gain the confidence and skills to achieve their Provisional 1 (P1) license. For those under the age of 25 years old this includes logging their 120 logbook hours for their P1 license.
The program provides a vehicle for on-road practice and a volunteer mentor to supervise Learner Drivers. Prior to being matched with a Mentor, Learner Drivers must have an assessment lesson with a professional driving school along with signing a confirmation that they understand and will uphold their responsibilities as part of the program. The program aims to increase independence, employment opportunities, community participation, and reduce social isolation.
